The Avon Business & Leisure Centre (ABLC) started  when the old building was built in 1968, as the Community Centre, it was a new building to replace the old one across the road from us. In 2005 we moved into a brand new purpose built building.

In 1972, it was given as a trust property to the Association, and was set up as a registered charity.

The ABLC was the first Centre built in the area to allow disabled access with ease, and still provides excellent facilities.  Back in the early seventies groups used the large function room, Freddie & the Dreamers, Searchers, etc. (if you are old enough to remember these groups).

In the mid eighties, the Centre was run down and in need of urgent cash.  With limited funds the trustees and staff set about fund raising.  All monies were ploughed back into the Centre and by the early nineties, we were turning bookings away for certain rooms at certain times.  In the mid nineties, we were lucky enough to have donated over £100,000 from the National Lottery and the single regeneration budget/gateway project.

This sealed the future of the Centre into one of the busiest in the area.  The advantage of the Centre is being in the heart of the town, with good transport links and ample safe parking.

We pride ourselves on the service provided and the standard of cleanliness, and the warm friendly atmosphere.

At the start of the new century, we look forward to a bright future, but we can't do it without you and your support and of course bookings.
